The nurse watch is normally used by nursing personnel in hospitals or assistants in medical practices. For hygienic reasons the nurse watch is not worn at the wrist, but attached to the clothing with a stick pin. So it is similar to a pocket watch, in contrast it is however not carried along in a trousers or vest pocket, but attached to the clothing by means of a clip, often free-hanging. That was traditionally the nurse’s apron. The chain of the nurse watch is shorter and often also broader than the chain of a pocket watch. A significant difference to a pocket watch is that the clock face is turned by 180°. The clock face of the nurse watch additionally shows scales that for example make it easier to take the pulse rate of a patient.
