The Venflon™ I indwelling venous catheter has a notch in the cannula. This design helps to reduce painful puncture attempts. BD Instaflash™ cannula technology allows blood flow between the catheter and the cannula, enabling immediate visual confirmation of vessel entry. Repeated puncture attempts during catheter placement can lead to vascular trauma, venous insufficiency and an increased risk of catheter failure. An unsuccessful initial puncture with a PVK increases the time required for the procedure and the costs. The Venflon™ I indwelling venous catheter has an injection port and a Luer adapter for venous access and drug administration. The flexible wings stabilise the catheter in the vein. The PTFE catheter material is the same as that used in the Venflon™ indwelling venous catheter and therefore does not differ when inserted into the vein.
