The Thermo Scientific™ Dermatophyte Selective Agar (Taplin) can be used to selectively isolate and rapidly differentiate dermatophytes and other fungi. The medium contains cycloheximide, gentamycin and chlortetracycline, which suppress the accompanying bacterial flora and partially suppress the growth of other yeasts and moulds. A colour change in the medium distinguishes dermatophytes from other fungi that may be present.
