The Combat Application Tourniquet® or simply CAT is a one-handed tourniquet system for stopping or temporarily interrupting blood flow in emergency situations, especially in tactical casualty care. An individually adjustable strap allows the tourniquet to be applied to all extremities. The windlass system (strap with toggle) tightens a freely movable inner strap to prevent arterial blood from flowing into the limb. The toggle can be secured under a clamping hook with a single movement. The CAT™'s Velcro fastener provides additional security during transport.
