Biatain® Fiber is a gel-forming fibre dressing consisting of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and bicomponent fibres. The dressing is additionally reinforced by a thermofixed mesh in a stable hexagon shape. This is called HexaLock Technology®. On contact with wound exudate, the CMC fibres in the dressing absorb the exudate and form a dimensionally stable gel. The gelled dressing retains the exudate and moulds to the wound bed, creating a moist wound healing environment. This environment supports the healing process of the wound and facilitates the removal of avital tissue (autolytic debridement).
