The closed, ready-to-use IV catheter system BD Nexiva™ minimizes potential sources of contamination and reduces the risk of infection. The catheter material BD Vialon™ (biocompatible polyurethane) and non-puncture manipulation via the integrated tube extension enable a longer catheter dwell time. Mechanically induced phlebitis occurs less frequently. The passive cannula protection virtually eliminates puncture and scratch injuries. Once the cannula has been removed, the septum completely seals the catheter. The vein therefore does not need to be occluded. The closed septum prevents blood contact when removing the cannula.
