Positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is generally used to maintain adequate oxygenation of the blood. PEEP is particularly recommended for assisted ventilation of premature babies. PEEP is also recommended in the context of lung injuries, e.g. drowning. The Ambu® Disposable PEEP Valve 20 is conditionally MR safe according to ASTM F 2503 and can be used safely in an MR environment under the following conditions:
- Static magnetic field of 7 Tesla and less, with:
- maximum spatial field gradient of 16,000 G/cm (160 T/m)
- maximum force product of 721,000,000 G²/cm (721 T²/m)
The Ambu® Disposable PEEP Valve 20 should not be used in the MRI aperture during an ongoing examination as this may affect the MR image quality. It is adjustable between 1.5 - 20 cm H2O and has a connection with an inner diameter of 30 mm.
