The Venflon™ Pro indwelling venous catheter with Instaflash™ cannula technology features a notch in the cannula, which has been proven to improve the success rate of the initial puncture and reduce painful failed and repeat punctures. Repeated puncture attempts during catheter placement can lead to vascular trauma, venous insufficiency and an increased risk of catheter failure. An unsuccessful first attempt at insertion with a PVK increases the time required for the procedure and the costs. Instaflash™ cannula technology allows blood flow between the catheter and the cannula, enabling immediate visual confirmation of vessel entry. Rapid visualisation of blood reflux can contribute to successful insertion and thus reduce the number of insertion attempts.

The Venflon™ Pro indwelling venous catheter with Instaflash™ cannula technology offers the same features as the Venflon™ Pro indwelling venous catheter, including a Luer adapter for venous access and drug administration, and flexible wings that stabilise the catheter in the vein. BD's proprietary kink-resistant Vialon™ biomaterial allows for longer dwell times and fewer catheter replacements, reducing the risk of mechanical phlebitis by up to 50%.
