The NMP22® BladderChek® test is a quick, easy and non-invasive test that works in conjunction with conventional diagnostic methods to help detect and monitor bladder cancer. This is a quick and cost-effective aid in the detection of bladder cancer in at-risk patients. The test detects a nuclear matrix protein released from urothelial tumour cells. According to studies, the test has a sensitivity of > 82 % (up to 94 % depending on the tumour stage) and a specificity of 76 %. In combination with urine cytology, the sensitivity increases to almost 100 %. As the results are available at the point-of-care within 30 minutes, they can be communicated to the patients during the same visit to the doctor.
